Grantee Highlights

Over the years, we have helped build communities and lives by supporting the great work of more than 1,000 organizations. In recent years, the foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $4 million annually.

American Red Cross


The American Red Cross’s contribution to Disaster Cycle Services helps to replenish the funds that have been used in response to house fires and natural disasters in our region. This organization is the first on the scene with boots on the ground, helping others by alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star


Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star strives to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships offering mentorship and support that changes the lives of vulnerable children for the better.

Bridges to Life


Bridges to Life connects communities with prisons to reduce the recidivism rate, reduce the number of crime victims, and enhance public safety. They minister to victims and offenders in an effort to show them the transforming power of God’s love and forgiveness.

Center for Hearing & Speech


The Center for Hearing & Speech is the most comprehensive resource for pediatric hearing loss in Texas and is the only facility in the region to offer health services and spoken language education for hearing impaired children under one roof.  The Center is relocating in order serve twice as many children.

Colonial Williamsburg


The Teacher Institute at Colonial Williamsburg provides teachers with in-depth lessons in colonial history, rich resource materials, and teaching strategies that captivate students through interactive learning. Houston teachers can then share with their students a better understanding of the birth of our Nation and the relevance of citizenship and democracy. Participants bring increased knowledge of American History and civics back to their classrooms and take part in the mission to feed the human spirit by sharing America’s enduring story.

Congregation Beth Israel


Congregation Beth Israel is dedicated to studying and living by the foundation of Torah and to providing Jewish involvement in the community-at-large by welcoming Jews of all ages and backgrounds, Jewish and non-Jewish family members alike, and offering lifelong learning, charity, and social justice.

Heritage Foundation


The Heritage Foundation endeavors to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

Houston Zoo


The Houston Zoo is the second most visited zoo in the United States and the most attended cultural attraction in the region. The Zoo is committed to connecting communities with animals and being a leader in the global effort to save animals in the wild.

Sailing Angels


Sailing Angels provides recreational therapy and respite to individuals suffering from mental and physical handicaps. Each patron is offered the opportunity to actively participate to the best of their abilities by raising the sails, tying knots, ‘driving’ the vessel, and assisting in docking. Founder, Captain Dave McCabe, is a retired aerospace engineer with an accomplished career using his expertise of trajectory calculations and simulations to guide moon landing and return to Earth missions.

YES College Preparatory


YES Prep seeks to build humble leaders, achieve transparency and high student outcomes, build transformative relationships, create pathways to opportunity, and eliminate educational inequities; ensuring that students from under-served communities graduate from college prepared to lead.
