The American Red Cross’s contribution to Disaster Cycle Services helps to replenish the funds that have been used in response to house fires and natural disasters in our region. This organization is the first on the scene with boots on the ground, helping others by alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.

bridges to life

Bridges to Life connects communities with prisons to reduce the recidivism rate, reduce the number of crime victims, and enhance public safety. They minister to victims and offenders in an effort to show them the transforming power of God’s love and forgiveness.

Texas Hearing Institute

Texas Hearing Institute is the most comprehensive resource for pediatric hearing loss in Texas and is the only facility in the region to offer health services and spoken language education for hearing impaired children under one roof. The Institute is relocating in order serve twice as many children.

The Teacher Institute at Colonial Williamsburg provides teachers with in-depth lessons in colonial history, rich resource materials, and teaching strategies that captivate students through interactive learning. Houston teachers can then share with their students a better understanding of the birth of our Nation and the relevance of citizenship and democracy. Participants bring increased knowledge of American History and civics back to their classrooms and take part in the mission to feed the human spirit by sharing America’s enduring story.

Sailing Angels

Sailing Angels provides recreational therapy and respite to individuals suffering from mental and physical handicaps. Each patron is offered the opportunity to actively participate to the best of their abilities by raising the sails, tying knots, 'driving' the vessel, and assisting in docking. Founder, Captain Dave McCabe, is a retired aerospace engineer with an accomplished career using his expertise of trajectory calculations and simulations to guide moon landing and return to Earth missions.
